What is meditation anyway?

Meditation is a large category and can be practiced in many different ways. The beauty is that you don't have to commit to any one way. You can prescribe yourself what you need based on what's happening around you and how you feel. The Cleveland Clinic defines it quite simply as: a practice that involves focusing or clearing your mind using a combination of mental and physical techniques.

 

I define meditation as: 

a vehicle with which one is able to turn inward, become present, find stillness of mind and let go of what's around them with the goal to return to a true higher state of being; one of peace, bliss, joy, and pure awareness.

One of the methods I specialize in is Primordial Sound Meditation. I like to use this as the foundation of my personal meditation practice, although I also often switch it up with breath workmindful activities, walking meditations and other app based guided meditations. It all depends on what I feel I want or need.

There is NO wrong answer on how you should meditate. There are NO rules! You take what you need!

 

What is Primordial Sound Meditation?

Based in the 5,000-year-old Vedic tradition, this meditation technique uses a personalized mantra based on the vibration the universe was making at the exact date and time of your birth. I believe that I am here to Guide You to whatever is next for you.

In many ways, I was a sceptic and didn't think life could change much more from its current state (unless I won the lotto). Now, I can say with unwavering conviction that exponential change IS possible! - and it does in fact start within you.

 

After witnessing the evolution within myself of a new perspective I never thought possible, all I now want to do is bring everyone along on this ride. Meditation has aided me in this shift and in my continuous growth. Truth: It was So HARD at first and daunting to find the time, but my teachers showed me how to practically incorporate meditation into my life, hot to let go of my preconceived meditation rules, and how to be patient with myself and the process.

Now, I am determined to show everyone how accessible and easy meditation is, and how it doesn't take, but gives time. 

Meditation can be practiced at ANY age! It also supports neuroplasticity and has a whole whack of other medically Proven BENEFITS.

 

​I am grateful for the continual guidance of my many teachers. With their encouragement and patience, I have learned to cultivate true happiness, detach from outcomes, and positively transform my relationships.

 

I am also a Reiki Master, a path that I explored for my own self-healing, but which I am happy to share with others upon request. 

My teaching philosophy is fluid and customized because everyone is at a different place in their path. It is important for me that you honour the day ahead of you, and embrace flexibility in how and when you meditate. Meditation does NOT need to be confined to a silent, seated or rigid practice. Life is busy! Sometimes all that is available to us is to become ever present in mindful moments—whether chopping vegetables, enjoying a shower, or just breathing with intention.

Still working in the corporate world, I have found a rhythm that supports the life I want to live, and firmly believe that committing to a meditation practice of any kind can help you unlock a life you may never have imagined possible.
